This morning in Cayce, SC, not too far from the state farmers market on Charleston Highway, an Amtrak passenger train crashed into a freight train, leaving at least two dead and more than one hundred injured. Train engineer Michael Kempf, 54, from Savannah, Ga., and conductor Michael Cella, 36, Orange Park, Fla, both employees of Amtrak, were killed in the accident. Gov. Henry McMaster and state officials said that the Amtrak was on the wrong track, possibly the result of a switching mishap.
