Health Minister Mark Butler has announced a number of new changes to Australia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Butler said that there are three main points of updated advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) that have been accepted by the federal government.
First, Butler said ATAGI has recommended a next-generation vaccine from Pfizer targeting the Omicron subvariant be added to the booster doses available.
Second, the paediatric vaccine from Pfizer, which is for very young children aged six months to five years of age, be used alongside the existing Moderna paediatric vaccine.
And thirdly, ATAGI has decided not to recommend a fifth dose or a third booster.
