The US death toll in the coronavirus pandemic has now surpassed 250,000 people – by far the highest national toll worldwide. Infections are soaring to new highs across the country. New York City was the epicentre of the US outbreak earlier this year – now it’s decided to close all public schools again as it fights a resurgence of the virus.
